Golden Dreams

"But these are just golden dreams. Who was it that first said that man does nasty things only because he doesn't know where his real interests lie, that if he were enlightened about his true interests, he would immediately stop acting like a pig and become kind and noble?"

Right here definitely got me thinking. It made me look back on our reading of Kant and enlightenment. It seems as though enlightenment is such a key theme of many of the authors we have read in this class. It seems this human condition to be unsatisfied with the present purpose we are found in. There is of course a link to a sinful desire to expect that you should get more. Like somehow our pretty crappy attempts at pursuing a subjective truth we made up in our heads will bring us comfort and solace. All things to consider when we are looking at our lives and the paths we could take.
