CONFUSED
So, guys. If I’m being honest, I was thoroughly confused
with this week’s reading. And I’m not just saying that as a cop-out, I didn’t
understand much from the reading except for this repeated concept: poets are on
another level. I almost got the sense while reading that poets are almost like prophets,
reaching for the future towards the “midnight” (still have no idea what that
means or represents.) In I sense however, I can agree. I wouldn’t go as far as
to say, “this is why the poet in the time of the world night utters the holy.” That seems to me like
a very bold statement, one that I very likely do not yet understand the concept
of. But I get the idea that Heidegger is saying that poets reach further into
the “abyss” (another word I don’t understand the representation for) (see a
pattern?) is saying that poets are responsible to the people of their time to
deliver a message that goes into the pursuit of the unseen.

The "midnight" is the darkest point that humanity will reach before understanding that we have been living wrong this entire time (the bottom of the abyss).
