Have I Become a Legend?

I may not be leaving entirely like Nat is (I'm so sad that my Honors sister is leaving 😭), but this is my last blog post that I will do for the Honors Cycle.

First, the actual post:
The project we did this semester was probably the one project I got the most out of by participating. By that I mean I gained a slew of knowledge from it. Admittedly, I don't remember more than half of what we all discussed, but I did learn a great deal on how an atheist would go about thinking on certain biblical topics. I'm not a poet, so T.S. Elliot still means nothing to me. O'Connor gave a good story with an interesting role shift of the 'Christian' and the 'Atheist' archetypes in literature. I probably had the most fun refuting and debating with C.S. Lewis and the Poison of Subjectivism. Simply because Russell seemed to only view the Bible from a subjective viewpoint. This was a great project, but in my personal opinion, I always strive to want to do something like the Trojan Horse in the Ancients that happened years ago. Regardless, this project was an absolute blast...and Phillip, thanks for being a good sport. :)

Second, my adieu:
To Sophia, Will, and Zelda-Peach: when I said 'good luck' at Colloquium, I meant it. I have full faith that you three have the capability to be a great council, but don't forget that because you are now the leaders, you must lead. Be the ones to spark the topics of discussion so the professors don't have to carry you through it. I did poorly at this and I am responsible for my actions, and as a leader: I'm sorry. Do better than I ever could. I don't know how good I could have done, so that just gives you a goal of an infinite standard to overcome. You three will do fine, but I  DO NOT want to come to an Honors Lounge where there is a wall blocking my way in (I'm talking to you, Will).

In general, I have to say Honors as a whole has changed my college experience. Please, when you all see the new students in the Fall, show your love for Honors at its fullest. I cannot stress how much the kids that step into that classroom will be forever changed by the Honors program. When I started, I had no intention of continuing the full cycle..but then Nat and Dr. Mitchell (may he be Honored) changed my mind just by being so inclusive. This program is more than just higher academics--it's a family. A family of individuals from all walks of life that may or may not have the prior intention of delving deep into literary works such as the Odyssey, the Aeneid, or Augustine's Confessions, but they will come to want to. You must be willing to bring them into the family.

So finally, this is really to Nat, Olivia, Ethan, anyone who came through Honors with me, and all the professors that have taught me and seen me through this program...
