Margarita's Wicked Honor and Satan as Deity?
This book is CRAZY.
Okay, I'm just saying, I am not fond of how powerful Woland-Satan is portrayed in this book. At one point, Margarita even refers to him as omnipotent and that just doesn't sit well with me. Yes, black magic is a thing, and Satan is real, but he does not have the power of humans that is given him in this novel. It makes me uncomfortable. (Bulgakov, please, what is your point????)
On another note, because of the devil and his posse's antics from the first half of the book, anytime something outrageous happens and is given to humans, I literally just wait to see if it disappears. I'm greatly blown away by Margarita's trust in this evil posse's gifts, yet am also confused by Woland's interest in her. What makes her distinct and special that she gets special treatment, as opposed to other humans he has come in contact with? Is it strictly because she quickly and adamantly submitted to him?
For real, this book is so extra.
P.s. Did Satan's Ball remind anyone else of a Great Gatsby party? I don't know, just made me think of that. K, I'm out.
I commented on Ethan's and Zelda's.
