Satan's Ball

So, the ball sucks.
The ball is filled with guests who are (you guessed it) murderers. Sounds like a lot of fun right? It is interesting to me how Margarita is completely exhausted in the presence of these people at this ball, but when separated from it later she feels completely fine. It's almost as if being in the presence of criminals and murders would stress you out or something? I would also like to know what the cream is all about, what it represents, why she had to rub it all over, like why is it there at all? And why does Margarita have to wear a giant picture of a poodle the whole time...? And then someone gets murdered AT the ball. And they drink the blood. Makes sense right? SO MANY QUESTIONS.
I'm struggling to find meaning in this reading, so far I'm getting a "satan sucks" vibe.

  1. There's a whole lot of death and a whole lot of allusions to other works and I'm picking up on it the more the story progresses. I, too, am confused by the ball and why on earth did they drink the blood??? Ewwwwwww...there are better ways to get iron, friends.

  2. Agreed this ball thing as super weirdly confusing especially the guy being beheaded and then drinking blood which I find super disgusting. I did finish the novel and I still had a hard time trying to find the meaning to the story. All I am getting is Satan is really twisted and messed up in his ways.
