All of the blindness

Something that astounds me about Satan is that he is blinded so much by his hunt for revenge. Which is ironic because Milton was blind when he wrote Paradise Lost (and I know the subject of his blindness has already been talked about so forgive me). I think that Satan either chooses to not see the true nature of God or that he really can't because that is all apart of God's mystery. In book III, Milton describes God's view of the worlds and how he can see everything in lines 69-76. I think because Satan does not know or wish to know that God sees and knows all things, that makes him blind. Even more, blinded by greed and hatred and malice. His hunt to hurt drives him making him more unable to see what he is about to do to himself and to the new world.

I commented on Carmen's and Natalie's!

  1. I'd agree Satan is blind to the goodness of God. There is absolutely no good within him and thus it is utterly impossible for him to think like God or even praise God. He is so far from what he once was that he cannot admit his wrongs because of his pride and you have to wonder if he is trying so hard to get to earth and bring sin there because it's what's "right" to him or because he has just dug himself so far into his unholiness that he has to keep going. Maybe both.
