Not gonna lie...... I read the German translation for a minute or two, thinking I'd gotten the wrong book -_-
Honesty time. I have no idea what's truly going on. I understand the plot from the back of the book, but sometimes these things can definitely throw me for a curve when I encounter this writing style. From the little I read, Faust's thoughts after his conversation with Wagner seemed to stick out to me. One Wagner left, Faust's attitude changed a bit and definitely took a more negative turn. He seems to feel as though good and the things that are better, are always out of reach and therefore, foolish to chase after. If there is always something that could be better, then whats the point in chasing the initial good in the first place?? Obviously there are holes to poke in such an argument, but I think it's a good question that we can all consider in our worldview and our faith.
