What a goodman

I find it humorous that his name automatically tells us about him and the fact that he will resist evil and remain a good man. I believe that the whole meeting ceremony in the forest was a dream, or hallucination, brought upon by the Devil. Perhaps it was a way of saying "the people you thought were most pure in your life are wicked, why not join them?", but instead of getting Goodman Brown to change into Badman Brown, he just becomes Paranoidman Brown.
I also really enjoyed the symbolism of Faith's ribbons. The fact they are there and emphasized to show that she is as innocent as innocence can get.

I commented on Will and Natalie's posts.

  1. I laughed way too hard at the "Goodman, Badman, Paranoidman" part. I hadn't thought of it as paranoia, but that is a good way to interpret it. I saw it mostly as a vision of what people can really be like, but I guess that's sort of the same thing in a way. I hadn't noticed the symbolism with the ribbons either! I knew there was something up with them, but I didn't know what to think of them.
