See you get death and anxiety, "but wait there's more."

Apologies for the overly short post ladies and gents. My mom had surgery middle of last week so prayers please. Will's post got me thinking more. We have all read these two momentous writers, and we are all confused as can be. Perhaps that is exactly the point.

Wasteland's overbearing imagery of death, anxiety, and darkness speaks to the truth of mankind. We are all creatures of fear. What are we anxious about? What do we fear more than anything else? DEATH.

The apocalyptic imagery of "Second Coming" on helps to further push this point. So my discussion question for you all is this. Why does death and anxiety seem to permeate every facet of the literary world? Is it simply a pattern harkening back to the fall of man or is it our fear of what lies beyond?

P.S. I commented on Brenna and Natalie's posts
