Why Run??

Going back to our discussion from Thursday, I still sit with my opinion that I would not had left that land. I have now realized that Ike viewed God in a very different way that I do, and probably would shape his choice much more. I feel like he still could have considered that he shouldn't just run from the past and try to escape it. I did a bit of thinking and realized that the very think Ike did, I've done before. Running from problems will never write the wrong, and it seems highly unlikely that Ike will see anything but bitterness in his memories when he thinks back. I feel like it would have been more rewarding to take something that had once been used for bad and shape it for good. God has graciously shaped each one of us and calls us to come to Him and submit ourselves so we can be used to spread his love and show His glory. If we run, what do we have, where could we go?

P.S. I commented on Will's and Sophia's posts!!

  1. I don't know. If I viewed God the way Ike did, I would probably run too. I wouldn't want to hold on to something given by a cruel God to a cruel man. I would probably do what Ike did and find the other heirs to let them deal with it.

  2. This kind of moral question has been asked for a while, in many different shapes and forms. Honestly, I have no idea where I'd stand on it if the situation was to happen to me, but I know I'd do a lot of praying! Ike's handling is the way a lot of people would probably go, even myself probably.

  3. Oh! I know how to answer this question/issue! Look at Sonic! He runs away from his problems all the time and the world is still saved in the end!...Ok, maybe not the best parallel, but it still works. Maybe he wasn't running from the problems of the land in the first place but more so resolving them. He no longer holds control over the land, and therefore is no longer responsible for its upkeep and management. Ike may have resolved more problems be relinquishing control of the land than he would have trying to care for it just as is fathers did before him.
